Dorothy Turner BA (Hons), LLM, consultant at Deo Volente, has practised as a solicitor for over thirty years.
Graduating in Law from Staffordshire University and subsequently gaining a Masters degree in Commercial Law from the University of Bristol, Dorothy gained experience in civil and commercial litigation at top tier Legal 500 firms in East Anglia, before moving to Bedfordshire and joining the Kempston office of a home counties firm where, as a partner for fifteen years, she also headed the litigation department dealing with a wide range of matters, including clinical negligence and personal injury claims, general civil and commercial litigation, product liability, class actions, contract disputes, crime, road traffic and relationship breakdown including divorce and matrimonial work.
As a keen promoter of conciliatory approaches to dispute resolution Dorothy was successful in negotiating many substantial out of court settlements for her clients.
In more recent years, as a mother of three children, Dorothy focused her attention on matrimonial and family matters, for a time working as an associate solicitor at a niche family firm in Bedford where Dorothy became particularly interested in the law relating to children and was successful in assisting many families in reaching agreement on the arrangements for their children following divorce or separation, often in cases where one or more of the parties was afflicted with an issue of mental ill health. She also gained substantial experience in applying for emergency injunctive relief, particularly in cases involving child abduction including at an international level and also in domestic violence situations.
Dorothy has now turned her attention to private client work in particular advice to the elderly client. As she advances in years herself and having experienced the ill health and deaths of both of her parents she can assist em-pathetically with the important but sensitive tasks of estate planning, drawing up wills and trusts, putting in place lasting powers of attorney and other related matters.
Dorothy is available to assist you with any of the above areas of the law. She can also offer advice to small businesses, drawing on her commercial law background, including matters relating to company law and contracts.
Dorothy enjoys spending time with her grandchildren and her hobbies include, traveling, theatre and the arts. She is a qualified yoga teacher, colour therapist, reiki practitioner and a member of a local druid grove.
