A landlord from Plymouth, Lokendra Kumar Khadka of Albert Road, Plymouth was sentenced on 13 August 2018 at Plymouth Crown Court to 15 months’ imprisonment suspended for two years and ordered to pay costs of £4,904.
The Court heard that Mr Khadka had failed to ever have gas appliances checked for safety at his rental property. Further, he had arranged for a person to make alterations to a gas boiler flue and that person had left it in an extremely dangerous state.
This case highlights the importance of appreciating and complying with your responsibilities as a landlord under the health and safety legislation.
